Our Story - Turning hardship into new beginnings
How Equimar was born
Let me tell you a story about a colt .
This beautiful colt was something we had been waiting for. Hence the name, Kóngur ( King)
He had an excellent pedigree and a future we could already see in our minds—until he got sick and nobody could explain why. We called the vets, we did everything “right,” and still the answers didn’t come. It felt like they gave up quickly, not out of cruelty, but because nothing they tried made sense of what was happening.
So we moved into the stables so we could monitor him closely.
We stayed with him day and night. We milked the mare every hour—around the clock—and mixed our family recipe into the milk to give him nutrition, warmth, and strength. For days, we lived on hope and routine. And then came the moment that every horse person fears: the point where you look at them and feel them slipping away.
That’s when we made a choice. We were not going to give up.
My initial thought - What would MOM do !
We got help from friends and family with great advise and support - We adjusted the dosage, and we strengthened the blend—adding even more of what our land has always offered: Nordic herbs and the coastal richness ofPalmaria palmata (seaweed) .
We didn’t do it for a brand or a business. We did it because we were out of options and we weren’t ready to say goodbye.
The next days, he began to improve.
Slowly at first—small signs, like a spark coming back into a tired body. Then real change. The foal that was fading away before our very eyes - started fighting again. And in that fight, Equimar was born.
Equimar is our family’s decision to turn a hard-earned lesson into something bigger than us. We blend decades of lived experience with modern equine nutrition, guided by the clean, strong nature of the North. Every product is built with respect—for the horse, for the land, and for the people who sit up through the night refusing to give up.
