Seaweed ! Not because it “does everything,” but because mineral balance underpins everything.

Why Nordic Seaweed?

For generations, Nordic seaweed has been part of how families in the North supported both people and animals. In our own family, seaweed was never considered a “supplement” — it was simply a natural resource used to help maintain strength, balance, and resilience during demanding conditions.

We used it in small amounts, over time, for many everyday challenges — for horses, livestock, and people alike. Not as a quick solution, but as part of a broader approach built on patience, nourishment, and respect for natural processes.

Today, Equimar continues that tradition by using Palmaria palmata (Söl / dulse), a red seaweed naturally rich in marine trace minerals and supportive compounds. Palmaria palmata contains iodine, selenium, magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iron in naturally occurring forms, along with polysaccharides and antioxidant compounds that support digestive and metabolic balance under normal conditions.

Rather than targeting one system, Nordic seaweed contributes to foundational balance — supporting digestion, nutrient absorption, skin and coat quality, electrolyte stability, and overall vitality when used consistently as part of a complete feeding program.

For us, this isn’t a trend or an ingredient choice made for marketing. It’s a continuation of what we grew up with — applied thoughtfully, carefully, and with modern standards of quality and transparency.

What makes Palmaria palmata valuable

Natural marine minerals (the big one)

Dulse provides a broad spectrum of trace minerals in natural ratios:

Iodine (moderate, not extreme)

Selenium (trace)

Zinc

Iron

Magnesium

Potassium

Calcium

These minerals support baseline nutritional balance, not spikes.

This is perfect for long-term daily use.

Highly bioavailable mineral forms

Minerals in seaweed are:

Naturally chelated

Bound within plant structures

Easier for the body to utilize than many isolated mineral salts

This makes seaweed an efficiency ingredient, not a “dose” ingredient.

Natural polysaccharides (often overlooked)

Palmaria palmata contains:

Sulfated polysaccharides

Soluble fibers

These support:

Gut environment

Microbial balance

Nutrient absorption

This is why seaweed shows up so well in:

Gut Harmony

DiaFix

Calm (via gut–brain axis)

Antioxidant compounds

Dulse contains:

Polyphenols

Phycobiliproteins

These help:

Buffer oxidative stress

Support recovery and cellular resilience

Again — supportive, not medicinal.

Consistency across systems

Seaweed supports:

Digestion

Metabolism

Skin & coat

Electrolyte balance

Overall vitality

Not because it “does everything,” but because mineral balance underpins everything.
